Top Ten Tuesday: Movies To Get In The Halloween Spirit

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish

I’m quite the wimp when it comes to scary movies believe it or not. Yet time and time again I subject myself to watching horror/suspense movies because…well, I don’t know, residual masochism maybe?

I broke this week up into two groups, some films that make me…

and others that, well…

Top Ten Tuesday: New Series I Want To Start

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish

Okay so I have a confession…

Um…

Well you see…

Most of these “new” series are books that I’ve had from Harper Collins for close to a year now. There were a lot of reasons: mood reading, my summer rereading kick, but most of all, I hate starting series when all the books aren’t published. I suffered through Harry Potter like the rest of the world and I never want to do that again. Besides I’m notorious for my impatience – if it takes too long for a series to be published, I just drop it like a hot cake. However these are in my Kindle so I will get to them…eventually.

Top Ten Tuesday: Most Unique Books I’ve Read

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish

Each of these books, in their own special way, have affected not only how I read but also how I write. They have all challenged my beliefs about fiction, narration, character, setting, and language. Some of these have even changed the ways in which I think and process ideas. I highly recommend all these books!

Not mentioned although they would certainly make the list: Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Lord of the Rings, A Song of Ice and Fire.

I tried to pick lesser known series/novels.

Top Ten Tuesday: REWIND (Books I Can’t Believe I’ve Never Read)

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish

Confession time: I am a horrible, bad, no-good book liar! There have been so many books that I’ve “claimed” to have read over the years. Mostly Pride and Prejudice because I proclaim my Darcy love for all to hear. But I love the Colin Firth Mr. Darcy, the Elliot Cowan Mr. Darcy, the Daniel Vincent Gordh Mr. Darcy. But here are the other titles that I’ve “read” or openly admitted, shamefaced, that it’s on my immediate TBR, promise!

Top Ten Tuesday: Reasons I Love Being A Reader

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish

The full title for this week was Reasons I Love Being a Blogger/Reader but I decided to focus on just being a reader. I thought that this topic was going to be a lot more difficult than it turned out to be. Being an avid reader has definitely made a huge difference in my life and I thank my mother each and every day for encouraging my passion.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Will Make You Swoon

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish

Okay, so I’m going to be dipping into my romance reading past for some gentlemen that definitely made me swoon, because duh, that’s what they’re supposed to do! This was a lot easier said then done because two years ago, I donated all my romance novels to the local library. I was moving and had to cull my enormous library to fit into my boyfriend’s truck. Thank god for the internet because after a couple searches using key terms, I managed to find most of them. I highly recommend all these books for swoon-worthy book boyfriends!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Will Make You Cry

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish

I could have made TEN Top Ten Tuesdays about all the TV shows and movies that have made me cry over the years. Something about the visual component flips on the waterworks for me. Reading is more of a pleasurable escape, so I choose books that I know WON’T make me cry. Although occasionally one will slip through the cracks and break my bookish heart.

Top Ten Tuesday: Worlds I’d Never Want To Live In

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish

While there are a lot of fictional worlds that I’ve HEARD are pretty horrible and should not be lightly read, I limited myself to universes that I, personally, have read and/or watched. If you think about it though, most fictional words are not places that you want to live in. No author would write a perfect world because that would be boring to read about. Even the Harry Potter Wizarding World and Narnia, my top two places I’d want to visit, have some serious hang-ups. But now on to my top ten WORST fictional worlds to visit!
